Children's Miracle Network - Why We Give
Thank you for visiting one of the most important pages on our website.
In 1998, Katrina and I were involved in youth ministry in Bradenton, Florida. That's where we met 16 year old Nathan Haas. We had no idea then what a wonderful part of our family, his family would become. This young man had a zest for life that was contagious. He also had a liver disease that was likely to cut his enthusiastic life dramatically short. Often, we were told that Nathan couldn't join us for an event or weekly meeting because he was being treated for his illness. He came to everything his health would allow him to attend. He would not let his situation define his life. Nathan lived with his parents and two sisters in a modest home in a not-so-great part of town. I would hope that they were able to benefit from organizations like Children's Miracle network. This family never asked for money or help, and they were always giving of whatever resources they did have.
Ten years later we received a call that Nathan was at Shands hospital in Gainsville, Florida and that Katrina and I might want to hurry. I had the honor of being at his side with his family when he breathed his last breath.
When I was interviewing RE/MAX to see if they would be a good fit for Steve Martin Homes Group, I was excited to learn that they were partners with Children's Miracle Network. It immediately reminded me of the Haas family. We gladly give a portion of our commission from each sale in Nathan's memory to help children and families who face such excruciating circumstances.
Forever Nathan's friend,
